I've been emphasizing the importance of thinking ahead in your solos. But when the changes are going by quickly, like they do in this tune, it's not so easy. So we're going to slow down the tempo of that "Room 335" A section by a few clicks. You can check back to the notation from the previous lesson for a visual of the chords in play.

At this slower tempo, and with a generous amount of breathing room between phrases, it becomes a lot clearer to see the approaches that we've been discussing in play. And I hope, you'll see that they really do work!

Blanketing a whole section of interesting chord changes with a single harmonic approach simply wouldn't sound all that interesting. The solo would fall short of its full potential. The methods that we've been working with offer so many more possibilities to explore and make music with.
